On Target

Today's post is about buying cute shoes on a budget. I have a three-figure bank account (so very tragic) and although I may lust after Louboutins, spending more than $30 on shoes is a big commitment for me -- especially for every-day type shoes that I typically run into the ground and have to throw out anyways.

If you're like me, I suggest that before you go out and spend $70 dollars on a pair of short-lived sandals, you take a little peek at Target.com. They have a huge selection of strappy sandals. Although many of their shoes do look tacky, there are some gems thrown in there that may just surprise you!

For instance:

Mint green deliciousness for only $14.99
Royal blue gladiator for $19.99

Here's the trick to buying bargain shoes: always shop in person (as opposed to online) and be very critical of the "leather." Often, cheap shoes look cheap because the faux leather that they're made out of looks pretty much like plastic. You know what I'm talking about. You take one look at those babies and you're all like, "Oh hell no."

Often, with cheap shoes it's best to go with the patent or suede look -- for some reason, those tend to appear more like real leather than when faux shoes try to pull of the top-grain leather look. This is by no means a hard-and-fast rule, though. Sometimes those fakes can be pretty darn good.

Moral of the story: don't be afraid to hunt for a bargain, check the leather, and always smile ambiguously for photographs and/or artistic portraits.

XOXO
Andrea
